　 紀伊半島以南，内湾の砂浜の潮間帯（西村 1992）． 北海道～沖縄，潮間帯～水深150m（今島 1996）．
　 ケープ，ナタル，モザンビーク，インド，ニューカレドニア（Day 1967）． カリブ海（Foster 1971）．チリ，環熱帯域（Blake 1983）． ニューサウスウェールズ（Hutchings & Murray 1984）． 北大西洋西部，カリブ海，インド，オーストラリア，ニューカレドニア，日本， 南西アフリカ，チリ，南カリフォルニア，浅海～159m（Blake et al. 1996）． インド洋から西太平洋に広く分布（西村 1992）． インド洋，南西アフリカ，チリ（今島 1996）．
　 模式産地は "Krusadai Island, Gulf of Manaar" （Day 1967）．

　 副感触手上の繊毛は食溝に限られ，食物粒子は食溝を移送されるほか， 副感触手の素早い収縮によって直接咽頭に移される（林 1998）．
