　 相模湾 153 fms，駿河湾 63-75 fms（Moore 1903 in Imajima Hartman 1964）， 房総沖, 相模湾, 駿河湾, 石垣島, 潮間帯～300m（今島 2001）．

　 Marenzeller によって1902年に日本から初記録となった Lepidonotus squamatus は Lepidonotus spiculus の誤りだった（Imajima 1997b）．このため， L. squamatus に対して命名された和名フサツキウロコムシは，現在 L. spiculus に使用される（今島 2001）．
　 和名イボウロコムシは，1975年刊行の学研中高生図鑑第9巻 水生動物で Hermenia acantholepis (Grube 1876) に対して用いられている（内田 1987）． 1956年保育社刊行の原色日本海岸動物図鑑では H. acantholepis に対して すでにヤスデウロコムシと命名されており（内田 1987）， 以降の図鑑類ではこちらが用いられている（岩瀬ら 1990，西村 1992，今島 2001）．
