　 写真の標本は未検討，種名，生態ともに不明．自由生活ステージがあるのか， または周辺に生息する魚類（ハゼ類，ヒメジ類，ネズッポ類，カレイ類，etc.） から脱落したものかも不明．
　 消去法的にウオビル科としたので，"Piscicolidae gen. sp."という表現は避ける． （おそらく現行のウオビル科は 'dumping ground' 的な扱いで，将来複数の科に 細分化されるかもしれない???）

　 フンビル目 Rhynchobdellida に3科，ヒラタビル科 に5属，エラビル科に1属， ウオビル科に少なくとも3亜科61属 + シノニム13属（WoRMS 02 June 2014 by Jurgen Kolb）．
　 日本産既知種は，ウオビル科19属24種，およびエラビル科1属4種 （日本生物地理学会サイト by 長澤 山内 海野 2008, etc., see references below），ただし淡水産種含む． ヒラタビル科は淡水産種のみ．

　 海外では Acanthobdellidea および Arhynchobdellida の海産種も既知．
