　 岩礁帯の潮だまり，破損した岸壁のパイル，沈船（Fauchald 1977）． 強内湾性，ホトトギスガイ純群集（堀越 1990）． 有機汚濁指標種と考えられる多毛類種名一覧（林 1991 456 table 2-6）． 汚濁指標種，生殖時期は5～7月，日中でも生殖群泳がみられる（今島 1996）．

　 性フェロモンに 5-methyl-3-heptanone の異なる異性体を雌雄でもち， 30-50 ng でよく反応，求愛ダンスを誘発する（林 1992）．
