　 本州以南の海藻場（西村 1995）， 潮間帯～水深3m，転石下や藻場に棲管をつくる（Ariyama 2009）， 東京湾から九州，潮間帯下部から潮下帯上部， 転石下および海藻中，集団で営巣する（今原 2011）． モーリシャス（Appadoo Myers 2004）， オーストラリア（Just 2009）．
　 タイプ産地はスールー海，インドネシア（Appadoo Myers 2004，Just 2009）．

　 砂泥底に生息するものは別種ソコホソヨコエビ E. convexus Ariyama 2009（今原 2011）．
