　 本邦南部沿岸の藻場に普通（岡田ら 1965）． 河口域，海藻上に tube をつくる（Smith Carlton 1975, 1989）． 太平洋温帯域種（Conlan 1982 table 2）． カナダのジョージア海峡に移入，北西大西洋起源， 水産物および船舶により，定着（Gillespie 2007）．

　 亜種 Ampithoe valida shimizuensis Stephensen 1944 が存在する（原記載未入手）．
